Your Questions, Answered

  • An intensive is one extended therapy session6 hours in one day — rather than many short weekly sessions spread out over years. Think of it as a private retreat day dedicated entirely to your relationship healing and growth.

Instead of traditional 50-minute weekly appointments, we work together for an entire day once a month for about a year, creating deep, focused transformation without the "start and stop" disruption of weekly therapy.

The traditional 50-minute weekly session model was created by insurance companies (not neuroscience or relationship science) and only exists because it’s easier to bill, not because it’s the most effective way to heal, especially for couples when two partners involved.

  • No, and that’s because I care about getting you the best possible results.

Based on hundreds of couples I’ve worked with over the past 15+ years, I’ve found that deep, intensive work is what actually creates lasting change.

Traditional one-hour weekly sessions often stop right when things get uncomfortable or when real breakthroughs are about to happen. The clock runs out, and you’re told, “See you next Thursday,” even though you were just getting somewhere.

In my intensive work, we don’t stop when it gets hard. We stay with it. We go deep. And we help rewire your brain and nervous system in ways that talking for 1 hour between work meetings and kids pick ups can’t.

One 6-hour intensive is the equivalent of 10+ weeks of traditional therapy, compressed into one powerful day, so you can finally breathe again and start showing up as the partner (and parent) you want to be RIGHT AWAY!

  • Each intensive is $3,000

  • Listen, I’ll be honest with you.

Healing takes time. While every case is unique and I don’t know exactly how long it will take, this is what I do know:

The couples who experience the most meaningful progress commit to once a month 1 day (6 hours a day) intensive for approximately 12 months. This creates safety, continuity, and measurable transformation.

I get it — that sounds like a lot. But it took years to get to where you are, and it won’t take just a few hours to fully heal. Healing is a process, and consistency matters.

That said, each 6-hour intensive is powerful. From the very first day, you’ll be able to breathe easier, feel hopeful, and start experiencing real shifts in your relationship.

I say all this to be completely transparent about how I work, so I don’t waste your time.

  • No, I do not take insurance

  • Couples come for an intensive once a month.

When you decide to work with me, I require that we schedule your first 6 intensives in advance — so six months out — so your healing stays consistent and prioritized.

For most couples, the full process takes around 12 months (give or take).
Some couples need a little more time, some a little less, depending on the depth of what we’re healing and how quickly changes stabilize.

This monthly intensive rhythm allows your brain and nervous system time to integrate the work while still creating steady, powerful progress.

  • I do offer limited 50-minute Zoom check-in sessions between intensives.

These sessions are $500 each and are designed for couples who need support if an intensive was rescheduled or if something urgent comes up, so you don’t have to wait several more weeks before connecting.

Because my practice is intentionally small and focused on intensive work, these sessions are limited and offered as availability allows. They’re meant to support your progress, not replace the deep work of the full intensives.

  • My office is located in downtown Wake Forest, North Carolina.

It’s a private, comfortable space designed specifically for deep, focused work with couples and individuals.

  • All 6-hour intensive sessions are in person.

I believe that being together in a private, focused space allows for the deep, uninterrupted work that creates real breakthroughs, something that can’t be fully replicated online.

  • Absolutely. You don’t need to know exactly what kind of intensive or modality is right for you before we talk — that’s what I’m here for.

When we connect, I’ll take the time to understand your situation, hear your story, and share my recommendations for the approach that will help you and your relationship the most.

Whether it’s an EFT intensive, Brainspotting Intensive, or Ketamine Intensive, we’ll figure out the right path together.

  • Yes! Couples travel here from all over.

Depending on our mutual availability, some couples prefer to schedule 2–3 day intensives back-to-back in one trip for maximum impact. Other couples prefer to fly in monthly for just a single intensive day and have a mini couples trip. It’s whatever works best for your situation.

We’ll work together to find a schedule that fits your travel needs while still keeping the consistency needed for real progress.

  • Yes! I offer solo intensives as well.

  • Yes, you can absolutely do intensives with me while continuing weekly therapy with another therapist. In fact, this is a very effective setup. I regularly collaborate with other clinicians who refer couples to me for intensive work when weekly sessions alone aren’t creating enough movement to get them over the edge. Weekly therapy can be incredibly supportive for integration and continuity, while a 6-hour intensive allows us to slow things down, go much deeper, and create the emotional shifts that are hard to reach in 50-minute sessions. With your consent, I’m happy to coordinate care so the work is aligned and complementary rather than duplicative or confusing. Think of intensives as a powerful boost that helps unblock stuck patterns and makes ongoing weekly therapy more productive and effective, not something that replaces your existing therapist unless you choose that path yourself.

How Does Relationship Counseling With Irina Work?

Your Roadmap to Healing

Step 1: Schedule Your Free Consultation

It all begins with a real conversation. During this call, I’ll listen to your story, answer your questions, and help you decide whether a private intensive retreat is the right fit for your relationship. Afterward, we’ll decide which custom experience best fits your goals:

  1. EFT for Couples or Solo Intensive — Rebuild Emotional Safety and Lasting Connection

  2. Ketamine for Couples or Solo Intensive — Quieten the mind, soften defenses, and unlock insight

  3. Brainspotting for Couples or Solo Intensive — Release Emotional Blocks/Trauma and Rewire Old Patterns

Step 2: Book Your Retreat

For new couples (and individual clients), we start with a 2-day retreat (6 hours each day) in my cozy Wake Forest office. This immersive experience allows us to slow down and do deep, meaningful work without the “start and stop” of weekly therapy. Together, we’ll uncover your negative cycle, reconnect through new moments of safety and vulnerability, and begin transforming your bond.

Step 3: Transform — Ongoing Retreats & Deeper Healing

After your first retreat, we’ll continue your journey through a series of 1-day (6-hour) follow-up intensives once a month to deepen connection and solidify your new patterns.

I require all couples commit to at least 6 monthly intensives for true traction. Please know most couples stay for 12 monthly intensives over a year to sustain deep, lasting transformation. While that may sound like a big commitment, it’s far more efficient, and life-changing, than years of traditional weekly therapy.

How Much Does Relationship Counseling Cost?

$3,000 per 6-hour intensive—same investment whether you come alone or together (I do not accept any insurance).

That's a full day of deep, transformative work with an expert who has over 15 years of experience and 5-star Google reviews. We don't just talk about your problems, we actually shift them. No 50-minute sessions that end right when you're getting somewhere. No waiting weeks between appointments while nothing changes. This is the equivalent of 10+ weeks of traditional therapy, compressed into one powerful day, so you can finally breathe again and start showing up as the partner (and parent) you want to be.

Because here's the truth: your kids (young or old) are watching. They're learning what love looks like from watching you two. They deserve to see you healthy, connected, and whole. And so do you. This isn't just an investment in your relationship—it's an investment in your entire family's future and your legacy!

Irina pretty much saved my marriage and made our emotional connection even stronger than before we had children, so I highly recommend her to all my family and friends struggling with communication and “roommate” marriage-type problems. She is not only extremely knowledgeable, but also a direct, caring, and very compassionate person. It might take you awhile to get there, but you won’t regret your investment, I promise you that.

Your Location:

All sessions take place in my cozy, private counseling office in downtown Wake Forest.

If you’re traveling from out of town for a retreat, I’m happy to recommend comfortable nearby accommodations to make your stay as easy and supportive as possible.

Am I a Good Candidate for an Intensive Marriage Retreat?

My intensive retreats are powerful, but they're not for everyone. They are designed for couples and individuals who are genuinely committed to their relationship's growth and willing to do the deep work required for lasting change.

This Work Is NOT a Good Fit If:

  • Your current schedule or season of life does not realistically allow for monthly 6-hour intensive sessions over the course of approximately 12 months (this work is designed as a structured, ongoing process to get you the best results)

  • You're looking for Band-Aid solutions

  • You're hiding major information, emotionally disengaged, or using therapy as your exit strategy

  • Your interactions regularly include screaming, insults, or volatile outbursts (we need a baseline of mutual respect to build from)

  • There's an ongoing affair that hasn't been disclosed

  • Any type of abuse, whether emotional, physical, or verbal, is occurring

  • Untreated addiction is actively impacting the relationship

Important:

Marriage intensives are not a remedy for relationships involving active infidelity, abuse, or addiction. These situations require a different kind of support first. If you find yourself in a relationship with any of these dynamics, I will always recommend starting with individual therapy to address these issues before couples work can be effective.

I believe in fostering a safe and respectful environment where couples can thrive and build a stronger bond. That requires both partners to be genuinely invested, emotionally available, and ready to do the work.

Are Marriage Retreats In North Carolina Done Online or In Person?

The majority of my intensives happen in person because being physically present creates the safest, most transformative environment for this depth of work. Sessions take place at my downtown Wake Forest office. Virtual intensives are offered only in exceptional cases and require advance approval.

Led Let's Be Real About What to Expect

Here's the truth: if it took you years to walk deep into the forest, it won't take two sessions to find your way out. Intensives are transformative, they create real breakthroughs and often shift things dramatically, but lasting change requires time, dedication, and active participation from both of you. Your first intensive builds a powerful foundation and shows you the path forward, yet most couples need ongoing monthly sessions to sustain momentum and fully emerge into the relationship they want. This is a journey, not a quick fix.

“We've just completed a full day EFT intensive with Irina, and are shocked how much we didn't know about how each of us was really feeling on the inside (we have been together for a very long time). This technique is simply amazing and I am actually excited to continue working on my relationship for the very first time ever. Just do it.”

“Irina has been an absolute blessing in our lives. With her compassionate approach, she has not only helped to save our marriage but also guided us towards a future filled with love, understanding, and anticipation. We are now proud parents-to-be, expecting twins, and we owe a great portion of our unity to Irina's expertise. Her genuine nature and empathetic demeanor created a safe space for us to express our deepest fears, frustrations, and desires. Irina's ability to connect with us on an emotional level fostered a sense of trust that was vital for the healing process.

One of the most remarkable aspects of Irina's approach is her authenticity. She never hesitated to challenge us when necessary, encouraging us to confront uncomfortable truths and address unresolved issues. Her guidance extended beyond mere words, as she provided practical recommendations for activities and work that would help us rebuild our connection. We followed her suggestions, and even months later, we continue to reap the benefits.

What truly sets Irina apart is her genuine passion for counseling. It is evident that she isn't driven by financial gain but rather by a sincere desire to help couples find happiness and harmony. Irina consistently demonstrated that she had our best interests at heart, and she never hesitated to let us know when she believed we were ready to graduate from therapy or when she felt we needed more work. This level of transparency and honesty allowed us to trust her deeply.
